We Don't Have the Time

“I don’t have time” is a phrase we hear much too often. People are so busy with… just that, what are people so busy with.

We blame it on life in general; the kids; the job or these days the search for a job; school and study; our spouse and even our health; getting ready for work, or taking the next class; arranging for vacation; preparing for retirement; the weather; the car or lack thereof. Some are too busy just “getting” things and others are too busy getting rid of things.

So much to do before I can do something for God, they say; while others are blaming God for too much to do. We know we should be doing more, but complain about doing too much.

In Mark 16:15 we read the Great Commission… you know that other thing we are supposed to do…

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

… but I know, I know, right now we just don’t have the time. There are so many people to reach and if all the other people that are supposed to be doing something would do their part we would not feel so bad for not getting to our part…

Well I have news for you, someone did their part last week and maybe it will take a little load off of us while we are too busy and just don’t have the time… his name was Mr. Resident of My City over on My Street and later this year he would have been thirty-six years old, but he hang himself. (I omitted the name to protect the family)

Just like that, one less thing to do and one less person to interrupt our busy day. Too bad we were too busy. Oh, by the way I spoke with his wife and sister but they are going to be busy. They were waiting on a call from the Coroner and needed to make arrangements with the funeral home. They just didn’t have the time...
